
Singapore will host the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games from 14 to 26 August 2010. Being the first ever Youth Olympic Games, Singapore will set the precedence for future hosts.
S2010 will receive about 5,000 young athletes between the ages of 14 to 18. They will compete in 26 sports. Officials from the 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), along with an estimated of 1200 media representatives, 20,000 local and international volunteers, and more than 370,000 spectators will be in Singapore.
Apart from the 26 sports which will take place at the 18 competition venues, S2010 will comprise other events such as the Opening and Closing ceremonies at Float at Marina Bay, Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame at various community districts, S2010 City Celebrations at Marina Bay and other activities.

The Youth Olympic Flame will be lit at the S2010 Opening Ceremony on 14 August 2010, marking the commencement of the first Youth Olympic Games.
As the host country for S2010, Singapore has an ideal opportunity to promote our country regionally and internationally. Moreover, with the arrival of foreign athletes, spectators and media representatives, tourism earnings are expected to increase and in the long run, the event may bring in potential business and investment opportunities for our nation.
